EYE OF THE MONTH: KATE’S REAL CREATE EYES – NO MORE RULES.

Some of you know that apart from my love for Korean cosmetics, a huge youtube/beauty blogger called Fuzkittie influenced me greatly to try other Asian brands, one of which is Kanebo and its sub brands one of which is Kate.

Here we are three years later, i’ve tried a crap load of bb creams, i’m now into snail creams and i’m super sold on Japanese eyeliners and eye shadows!  AND today, i just spent a wonderful afternoon with my mom for our free make over at the Kate counter at the SM North Department Store area for the weekend event below!  It is her birthday weekend so I introduced her to a brand I really am liking lately!

Kate has launched a new set of eye shadows and here they are, in the Philippines, officially ^_^

Below are the rest of Kate’s new products now also available in the Philippines.

woot, cream blushes, OMO, they iz really naaaaizz!  with powdery shimmery finish that i hold so dear!

so natural looking, no fear of looking like a clown with these shades!

tsk another bb cream, i tried out Kate’s limited edition bb cream and reviewed it here, i’m hoping this new bb cream will do much better 😉 this was the bb cream used on my mom’s and my face for the makeover.

woot, yes folks, this is not a rake for leaves, it’s a mascara wand.  comb style like ahem, ahem the other japanese brand, the lash king! but Kate, of course has to, like has to, look different.  it’s a twisty at the bottom and the ink, i mean the mascara formula oozes out at the side of each comb.

 new liquid liner, hehehe

and oooo this!  it’s a liquid liner with the brush tip but it’s double ended, see the brown tip on the upper right hand corner of the pic below? it’s brown eye shadow, so it’s nifty for travel once you get a hang of not getting brown shadow everywhere when you pop the lid open for it.

and here we are, their proud new product, the Kate photoready.  ooops did i say photoready? i’m sorry i meant the Kate Lasting High Coverage Liquid foundation! 😛

and these babies, notice anything with the above and below pic? they now haZ shades for our warmer and deeper skin toned ladies!  yeah that, bronze color you see below, middle bottom row is actually much darker in real life than in this photo.

oh ha ang mudra, f na f ang makeover by Ms Muriel!

i iz busog, yaan nyo na ko LOL

 uuuyss demure kunwari!

the fruit does not fall far from the tree! 😛

 shining shimmering golden beige!

thanks Ms Muriel! (hopefully i didn’t murder the spelling of your name!)

and a few hours later after a humid walk on the skygarden, look ma, buo pa! so wait, is this what y’all mean by dewy glow?? well there you have it, i love love love that cream blush! and the bb cream, my skin, my mom’s skin, it just doesn’t cake up! i guess that gel blah blah thing works for our humid muggy climate we have?  AND LOOK! it matches the skin shade of my neck!!!!

uuuyyys Ms Yannie! thanks so much! i can now sorta do this makeup look i’ve been itching to do with this green golden! thanks so much and hehehe a Freshel BB with sp41! what’s not to like!?

yes, yes, i know i swore off buying something, anything til i get to korea or bkk, but well, at 20% off it’s like i went to bkk anyway?! yes, you read it right, they said 20%!  so there was a 10% discount for all the stuff at the watson’s beauty area for the brands participating.  but you get a another 10% off when your bill reach 1500! eh di parang bumili na rin ko sa bkk or JAPAN with that kind of discount.

mudra and daughter 😛 happy birthday ma!

of course, i’ll do a full review of the bb cream! and a side by side comparative review on the cream blush!

how was your weekend!? clearly with the look on mine and mom’s face we were at the least peachy LOL 😛

Hey, I’ve been meaning to post this since i got this from Ms Yannie the other day.

It’s a makeup makeover event at SM North! From May 18-20 at the Department Store at the Kate counter.

I’ll bring my mom!  Mom and I planned to see each other next week instead of this hallmark-greeting-card-money-making-day just in time for her REAL DAY, her birthday next week!

She and anyone of you who drop by the Kate’s area at the department store get to check out Kate’s new eye pallets!

for further inquiries check out Yannie’s info in the picture posted.

Hope to see some of you there!

I think i’ve been wearing pink for two weeks now.  lol pink blouses are tops that i may never run out of hahaha.  and because of that i can wear this.  one of the spring 2012 collection pallets. tadaaaah

it’s Y5000, so around PhP2500, the srp for this in Rustan’s is 3k (at least naman daw di mo na kailangan pumunta ng Japan :P)

actually, apart from the really pretty rose imprint of the high light shade, all of these shades are not new and were just in different pallets. nice and sparkly and super finely milled.

The reason why fuzkittie hardly, if ever uses eye shadow brushes?  Japanese sponge tip applicators.  they are just sturdy, not flimsy, spread/apply/blend the finely milled shadows in place that it’s hard to mess it up.  it’s almost fool proof.  and since it is sturdy and not flimsy, then you can launder these with just liquid hand soap, dry it and you’re good again.

the pigmentation. well, let’s see.  it’s actually a bit of a let down.  they are soooo not like the other two lunasol pallets i have (from the 2011 fall collection).  it took at least a couple of swipes for this kind of vivid shades to come out.  i was kinda taken aback by it since i am used to the fall 2011 pallets that i have.

but i think i did pretty ok? watchatink?

too bad the beige-y golden shade doesn’t show up too much in this lighting, it’s the best of the 4 imho.

i do love the sponge tip applicators. specially the pointed one, it makes applying the darker, liner shade so easy.

as with my other lunasol pallets, i (you) can make your looks from day to night time.

Likes:

  • packaging, LOL need i say more? it’s not at all flimsy, it’s built well and to last.  it’s easy to open, it’s closes shut when clicked, soooo unlike the packaging of Kate’s eye shadows
  • no weird scent
  • elegantly shimmery so no big chunks of glitter that may get in my eye
  • finely milled
  • really creamy to apply just like all my two other lunasol pallets and my majolica majorca pallets
  • not chalky
  • does not crease
  • does not fade throughout the day with or without eye primer underneath
  • nice satin finish
  • gorgeous pallet with the flower detail for the high light shade
Dislikes:
  • not as pigmented as my other lunasol pallets.  the pigmentation reminds me of my kate pallets
  • the price but oh well, i got it at 10% discount so at PhP2700, it’s quite close already to the Japanese Yen equivalent
Will I repurchase? prolly not from this collection, maybe when they come out with the fall 2012 collection?
Do I recommend – if you like Japanese brands, by all means, i think they are worth the money compared to say other high end brands like smash box and too faced with really really chalky eye shadows that you wonder what the fuss is and what drove marketing to peg the srp’s that high for these brands.  so yeah, japanese eye shadows, hands down beat western brands that i’ve tried, EXCEPT ONE.  more on that soon

 watchatink?

As soon as I saw Nikki’s post about this event, I immediately, emailed and texted.  and luckily enough, Ms Yannie replied that i have secured a slot for today’s event.  This is what greeted me when I entered and Ms Sydney was there to greet me as well.

hay, i had just eaten, but who could resist this! the salad was really good!  the panna cotta was so so, too much strawberry caramel, imho.  the beef kebab was the bomb! the crunchy maki was hmmm well it startled me.  the coffee was strong but just what i needed LOL.

 and the private sale.

all three brands of kanebo were here.

Kate

 Impress

 and Lunasol

ahhhh, fuz, look at your influence on me!

 my transformation

aigoo i super super love the lunasol liquid foundation, such a natural finish!  naku, i’ve a lot of foundations na hahaha, patay LOL

and a wearable smokey look, their gel liner was superb to apply ha o.0

and picture moment with other bloggers!

 and more bloggers 😉

and the trainer Ms Jenny Liang.  ooooh she’s so nice ha.  she asked more questions than i was able to sneak in to our short conversation LOL.  This woman is a testament that shimmery shadows can be worn by any woman at any AGE.  so yeah she was wearing one of the lunasol shimmery shadows.  dedma lang, keri naman ni ate hahaha (she pulled it off and rather prettily and subtle-ly, too.

ahhhh this thing.  this was brought here by Lunasol but only 4 sets! at Rustan’s Makati.  and sadly, Rustan’s Shangri La is under renovation so no lunasol counter to visit there.  no lunasol counter at Essences at Rockwell either.  so i took my chance in asking if this was available at today’s event.  luckily it WAS!!! and i got a 15% off, too!

their press kit.  hmmm whitening stuff…anyone who follows me know what i do with whitening stuff! LMAO so watch out for that ^_^

it was a great experience today, mostly to get re-acquainted with my fellow bloggers and more so, make me fall in love with this brand all the more.

Thank you Fuzkittie for introducing me to this brand.

i think i’ve been wearing this and denting the hell out of the pink and silver-white shade for more than 2weeks now LOL.  i got this pallet at a watson’s in singapore and it was part of a buy 2 get one free.
so far the only japanese pallet i’ve tried are from majolica majorca the trick on eye shadow 750 and 751. i really love how creamy soft those shadows are and i was hoping that this drug store brand would at least be similar to majolica majorca’s shadow pallets.
there was a brown option of this, but i chose the pink hehehe but the container says brown hahaha.  i like the fact that it includes eye brow powder.
swatches.  mind you i put my tony moly eye primer under there O_o
you can make it as plain or as smoky as you like.  the dark brown is great and easy to spread and build up, well the dark brown for is a satin finish so it isn’t as chalky as most dark shades for the outer corner of the eye.
i applied black liquid liner here, but you can apply brown as well.
this thing oxidizes O_o the nice salmon pink upon application turns to a light orange, which not bad per se, but sheesh i bought it for the pink not orange, boooh.  the silver-white thing turns dark gray, too, huwatduh? kakagalet. [annoying]
but on a low res cam, bonga naman chos! [on a low res cam, i look half decent, LMAO]
since i’m all biggie for bold lippies and i’ve been trying on my nyx and cover girl lip perfection lippies, i chose to just use this pallet for a less severe eye look and have the lippies be the main attraction.  so far so good, these pix below have gained the most likes from my facebook page bwahahaha chos!
fine, like ko na nga tong pallet na ito.  i guess it’s workable, i just don’t like the oxidation and pigmentation / color pay off.  i guess i was expecting another majolica majorca, but alas, this kate pallet isn’t that.
BUT WAIT THERE’S MORE- HOWEVER:  i do love the eye brow powder.  it’s quite similar to my elf studio eye brow kit in light only that this kate one is powder and better imho to apply.  the gel/cream with the elf one turns on itself lol, so you have to dab the thing across your brows.  but not this kate one.  it’s a breeze to apply.
LIKES:
  • relatively inexpensive at around PhP800 converted from SGD because it has 3 shades and 2shades for the brow and 2 functioning sponge tip applicators.
  • sponge tip applicators are not flimsy, tiny but not flimsy and the sponge won’t disintegrate on you while using it.
  • the brow part, very easy to apply, buildable so mistakes can easily be corrected
  • one pallet can be used for a day or night time look because of the dark brown shade
  • no weird scents
  • no harsh skin reactions
DISLIKES:
  • color pay off not so great [for the eye shadows]
  • the locking mechanism for the the lid easily unclasps so i sometimes find this open in my kit if i return it in my kit on it’s side [so it’s standing on its hinges] basta nagbubukas magisa pag nakatayo LOL i cannot english anymore LMAO
  • it oxidizes. hay, i love the pink, i bought it for the pink, but it turns a light orange on me.  which is actually nice, but i already have a nice orange pallet from etude house.  i wanted this nice bright baby pink to at least stay on my lids for more than 3 hours O_o
  • the length of the stems of the sponge tip applicators are just way too darn short, other than that the sponge tips themselves work and work fine they do.
  • didn’t find this at sm mall [or is that a good thing?]  there was another line of eye pallets there, a quad with no eye brow powder but who knows it should turn up here, too one of these days.  the bb and the mineral liquid foundation have LOL
will i repurchase? nope, majolica majorca it is for me, anyway it’s in the same price range
do i recommend? nope there are other pallets out there with better color pay off.  ahem maybelline, ahem majolica 😉
