I’ve had the pleasure of dining twice at a nearby restaurant called Woorijib twice this past month and i’d like to share my thoughts.

Appetizers, yes, they’re free and refillable/unlimited

A spicy fusion noodle meal with plenty of sea food. the heat isn’t as obvious upon the first few bites, but boy it’s there, now i know why soju is useful in times like these. this is very filling so bring guys along, well ones that aren’t allergic to sea food.

It’s really good spicy maggie noodle soup LOL. that night’s batch was pretty good, the noodles weren’t over cooked which hmmm what makes me decide the whole thing is good LOL.

my hubby’s usual order when in a korean restaurant. it’s sweet beef stew. the meat almost melts off the bones. the carrots weren’t over cooked but not raw, just right. i’d order this again and again, too.

The traditional korean pancake, i love this, it’s a pretty substantial quite filling meal. there were plenty of squid and other sea food in it along with the spring onion to make it a good omelet. it’s also not too oily, not too salty. just right.

Kkanpunggi (correct me if i’m wrong)

Now they may just be chicken wings formed as lollipops but the breading used, the preparation and even the decorative sesame seeds makes this delightful chicken meal a delight. it’s slightly sweet and slightly and not overbearingly spicy. the breading is crunchy and juicy at the same time. perfect with white rice.

sotanghon pancit only the noodles are thicker and the dish is a little sweet. but it’s pretty much run of the mill.

Tukbokki (correct me if i’m wrong)

Mirienda food. rice cake (like tikoy) with spicy sauce/soup with noodles and vegetables, sounds weird? yeeeaaah it does but it sure doesn’t taste weird. the tikoy thing provided the sweetness to counter the spice. try it you might like it.

Cha-Jang Myun

The black bean paste noodle dish. it’s an acquired taste and if you’re gahgah over black beans then this might appeal to you. so it’s noodles but with black bean paste thus the name. it’s pretty thick and starchy and it’s on the sweet side. no meat in this. the texture of the black bean paste might put off people who aren’t used to it. though i have it on good authority that the restaurant next to woorijib serves a better tasting Cha-Jang Myun. LOL

The Korean bacon. Expect pork tasting meat. it’s not the honey cured purefood’s bacon that some of us(you) may still be used to. this is prepared next to you, i mean fried next to the patron so it’s fresh and newly fried once served. this is eaten with lettuce and a little sauce. it’s an experience. i’m a carnivore and vegetarian so the combination works well for me. i love this. LOL

Imagine noodles with luncheon meat, pork and beans, and weiners, and of course vegetables (spring onion). this is spicy. ‘kuya! soju juseyo!’ it felt like dorm/college food but hey what the hell masarap parin.

of all of these, i’d come back for the bacon, the galbichim, the spicy chicken wings, and the pancake pizza thing. and i’ll try their bulgogi and kimchi stew. the price range isn’t too high either each dish is about 250-300. if you order something that costs 500 a pop that order can feed 4 people, trust me. our house or woorijib is located along kalayaan avenue, near eunilane (so near claret).
